Curriculum And Year Levels

Otorohanga College offers its students a comprehensive range of subjects which will equip them for life beyond secondary school.

 

Ötorohanga College prides itself on delivering a wide range of programmes in addition to NCEA. These include learning support, enrichment programmes, Te Kura and Gateway. As a community, Ötorohanga can be proud of MPowa, which supports the transition of all school leavers into the next stage of their journey.

 

Year 9

All students follow a course in English, Mathematics, Science, Global And Local Studies and Physical Education / Health. They also experience two rotation subject groups. The Technology rotation covers: Food And Nutrition, Fabric Technology, Digital Technologies, Design And Visual Communication and Resistant Materials.. The Arts rotation covers Visual Art, Music, Drama,  Te Reo Mäori and pathways Education.

 

Year 10

All students take a course which involves English, Mathematics, Science, Global And Local Studies and Physical Education/Health as compulsory subjects along with a choice of option subjects.

 

Year 11

All students take a course which involves English, Mathematics, Science and Physical Education/Health with a wide range of optional courses offered.

 

Year 12

By Level 2 all six courses are optional.  Career and academic guidance assists students as they select the most relevant combination of courses.

 

 

Year 13

Students are again closely guided in their academic programme choices to ensure they give themselves the best possible chance to meet the increasingly competitive entry criteria set by universities and other tertiary education and training providers.
