Welcome from the Principal
He mihi nui kia koutou katoa.
Welcome to Ōtorohanga College.
We are proud of the incredible range of opportunities provided for our students and of the calibre of young men and women these students become over their time with us.
An education at Ōtorohanga College focuses on ensuring academic success for every student based on their potential, their aspirations and their needs. We focus on resilience, strength of character, a sense of values and a love of learning to ensure our students are the best they can be.
At approximately 300 students, our size allows us to provide a range of opportunities that compares well with larger schools and yet allows us to meet the needs of every single student, so that no one ‘falls between the cracks’.
Our rich and diverse range of opportunities in the Arts, in Sport, Science and Technology, ensures the well-rounded individual we strive to develop, is a reality. We are fortunate that our location in the thriving town of Ōtorohanga, within the beautiful King Country region, allows us to make the most of the historical and geographic riches that this region is famous for.
We welcome your interest in our school and would love the opportunity to share with you all the elements that make Ōtorohanga such an outstanding educational organisation.

Welcome from the Student Leader
As Head Boy and Head Girl we are responsible for co-leading the Student Council, representing the students of the College at public events, welcoming parents during school events, student event management such as the school ball, encouraging the wellbeing of our students and co-hosting school assemblies and prizegivings.
“The things we have enjoyed the most about College life are playing in sports teams that have a cross section of age groups across the school, sport exchanges, school production and the friendships we have made over the years. Being a smaller school, we have also enjoyed getting to know the teachers and appreciating the effort they put in to ensure we are getting the most out of our learning.
The advice we have for future students of the school is to join a sports team or get involved in things where you can meet a range of different people from the school. Don't be afraid to be yourself as there will be several other people with similar interests, so get involved and give everything a go”.
