NCEA, University Entrance and Ākonga Achievement

At Ōtorohanga College we track the achievement of our ākonga closely across every level of NCEA, from Year 11 through to Year 13. Our results reflect both the strengths of our kura and the areas we are actively working to lift.

A strong turnaround in 2025
Our Year 11 ākonga showed real momentum this year, with Level 1 achievement rising from 31.1% to 51.9%, an increase of almost 21 percentage points. This is a strong sign of the mahi happening across our junior school and reflects the dedication of our kaiako and whānau support behind the scenes.

Level 1 and Level 2 achievement for our Year 13 ākonga has also remained consistently high over the past five years, sitting in the high 70s to high 90s throughout, a reflection of the manaakitanga and consistency our senior students bring to their final years of learning.

Where we are focusing our efforts
Like many schools across Aotearoa, we have seen senior achievement trend downward in recent years, particularly at Level 3 and University Entrance. We recognise this and it remains a key focus for our college. With the strong recovery already visible in our Year 11 cohort we are confident this momentum will carry through as these ākonga progress into their senior years.
